Types of Solar Installations

No matter the type of roof on your business premises, or whether you prefer a ground mount installation on an area of your land, we can provide a solution that will be perfect for your property.

Rafterbolt Mounting for Slate Roofs

Roofhook Mounting for Tiled Roofs

Suitable for all types of tiles, roofhook mounting is the most economical option for existing roofs.

This mounting system is the most common option for all types of tiled roofs. Brackets are securely fixed to the rafters of the roof, creating a weathertight and solid frame to which the panels are attached.

In-Roof Mounting for Slate and Tiled Roofs

A low profile solution that fully integrates into your roof, replacing the slates or tiles.

For a sleek and unobtrusive profile, we recommend the use of specialised in-roof trays. This kit can be installed with many roof coverings to allow solar PV panels to sit flush with the tiles or slates, whilst maintaining a watertight covering and secure fixing points for panels.

This option is particularly suitable for new build properties, where it not only is aesthetically pleasing but also affords savings on tiles or slates that would otherwise have been covered by the panels themselves.

Metal Roof Solar Mounting Systems

The mounting solution for buildings with a metal corrugated roof.

Many commercial buildings have a roof with a metal roof covering and we specify a particular mounting bracket for this application. The Renusol Short Rail is supplied complete with EPDM mounting seals and is secured using four self-tapping screws to stitch the mounting bracket to the metal roof ensuring a strong and fully watertight seal. These brackets are a simple but very effective way of mounting solar to a building with a metal roof.

Groundmount Photovoltaic Systems

For the optimum positioning of your solar panels to maximise solar generation.

Where there is no suitable roof, or where land is available for use, it is possible to mount a solar array on the ground.

We recommend a frame system to raise the panels off the ground. This allows us to perfect the pitch and orientation of the panels for maximum solar output, with a safe and secure installation.

Flat Roof Mounting Systems

Quick to install without needing to penetrate your flat roof membrane.

For flat roofs that are suitable for solar installations, we use console tubs, filled with ballast (sandbags or paving slabs, with weights calculated according to each site).

Rails and panels are fixed to the weighted tubs which means that we avoid unnecessary penetrations of a flat roof covering. Plastic troughs made of HDPE distributes the weight on the solar PV panels, making it a safe and practical option.

Photovoltaic Wall Mounted Facades

Energise your facade with solar panels with building integrated systems.

We supply and fit a range of facade mounting systems, from specialist solar curtainwall framing systems, to canopy frameworks that provide shade and naturally increase building ventilation.

Solar cladding allows you to integrate solar cells into the skin of buildings. The integrated renewable energy solution comes in a variety of sizes, energy yields and colours.

Types of Solar PV Panels

All solar photovoltaic panels convert daylight into electricity, however, they vary in how they’re made, appearance, performance, size, costs, and the installations each are best suited for. Get in touch with us and we can help you decide on the most suitable solar panel for your purposes. We only supply and install solar panels from well established global manufactures, with high efficiencies and 25 year warranties, and that are designed to withstand high wind and snow loads.

Monocrystalline Photovoltaic Panels

Highly efficient, long lasting, available in silver or black frames.

This type of solar panel is made of monocrystalline silicon, the purest type of silicon. You can easily recognise them from the uniform dark look and the rounded edges. The silicon’s high purity causes this type of solar panel has one of the highest efficiency rates, with the newest ones reaching above 20%.

Monocrystalline panels have a high power output, occupy less space, and last the longest. Another advantage to consider is that they tend to be slightly less affected by high temperatures compared to polycrystalline panels.

All Black Photovoltaic Panels

With a uniform face, All Black panels are the most popular choice with homeowners.

All Black solar panels are a variant of the standard monocrystalline silicon panels, but manufactured to have an entirely black surface for aesthetic purposes, especially suitable for roofs with slates or grey tiles.

Although slightly more expensive than other types of solar panels, they are the most popular choice by homeowners and customers who wish to retain the uniform look to their roof. As with all monocrystalline panels, the silicon’s high purity means that this type of solar panel has a high efficiency rate. Depending on the brand, outputs range from 300 to 380 watts per panel, with higher outputs being more expensive, but more suitable for roofs with limited space.

Polycrystalline Solar Modules

Most economical option, best suited for large scale commercial and industrial roofs.

You can quickly distinguish these panels because this type of solar panels has squares, its angles are not cut, and it has a blue, speckled look. They are made by melting raw silicon, which is a faster and cheaper process than that used for monocrystalline panels.

This leads to a lower final price but also lower efficiency (around 15%), lower space efficiency, and a shorter lifespan since they are affected by hot temperatures to a greater degree. However, the differences between mono- and polycrystalline types of solar panels are not so significant and the choice will strongly depend on your specific situation.

Maintenance-Free Inverters

The solar inverter transforms the DC electricity from your photovoltaic panels into standard AC electricity and will operate, maintenance free, for the lifetime of your Solar PV system. We only provide and install inverters from long established, reputable manufacturers to ensure that you have trouble free operation with no downtime.

When the sun shines, heat your water!

If you have a hot water cylinder in your home or premises, take advantage of sunny days by using a power diverter to heat your water using excess solar energy. A Power Diverter is a separate unit which monitors energy that would otherwise have been sent to the grid. Instead of losing it forever, a Power Diverter redirects the electricity to an immersion heater to give you hot water for use in the home, thereby maximising the return on your solar investment by reducing alternative water heating fuel.
